It's Not As Easy As It Seems
Getting started isn’t as easy as it seems. Everyone at some point in their life has struggles. You are not alone. Questions! What’s stopping you from starting your healthy lifestyle journey? Is it your bad eating habits? Is it that you just don’t know where to start? Is it that you haven’t wrapped your mind around the fact that it’s time to make a change? Is it a sense of fear that you will fail? Are you afraid of the process it will take? There are so many reasons we procrastinate when it comes to starting something new. Here’s a fact…
“There are no secrets to success. It is the results of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell
Let's Talk About Getting Started
How many times have you said to yourself, “I’m going to start a fast on Monday?” Have you looked at this website and said, “I’m going to sign up for Eat Well Live Well Be Well and get started…….on Monday.” But Monday never comes. Why Monday? Is there a rule somewhere that says everything we start must began on a Monday? No! Planning and preparing for a journey is suitable for any day of the week. All you have to do is simply make a decision.
Sometimes our issue can be matters in our lives that we have suppressed. Many of us struggle with deep rooted personal issues from the past that haven’t been addressed. In order for us to live our best lives, it’s important to deal with any issues that may hinders us. One of the dangers of not dealing with our issues is that they can lead to us eating as a coping mechanism. Just like alcoholism and drug abuse, food can become just as problematic. And before you know it, it can become a habitual. A habit is a settled or regular tendency or practice. A tendency or practice that is hard to give up. Can you relate?
Emotional eating is another beast that causes us to eat excessively. And often times this is where we tend to lean towards the more unhealthy foods because they seem to soothe our emotions. Always remember this one fact and it may help you with emotional eating as it has me. Emotions are the great liar! Follow your mind. Mind over matter!
Just Start!
When we say just start, we mean just that. Start with the simple things like removing the carbs and increasing your intake of vegetables, fruits, and water. Identify obstacles and knock them down! You are the only one that can make this happen. Set measurable goals that you can meet without stressing over the fear of failure. Just know this journey is not for a quick fix. It’s a lifestyle change. Start slow, stay consistent, and plan to achieve your goals. Your transformation will take some time. Be patient with the process. You must create your future by the actions you take everyday. You can see your future through your faith you have in yourself.
The other area we must work on is self discipline. Being disciplined isn’t always easy. We have to fight the cravings that come to disrupt the process. Have you ever found yourself in a battle with your mind to say no and you give into the cravings? Strong will power is the best way to fight cravings. If we continue to give into them, we will never be successful. It’s a fight that you must have and you must WIN! Stay focused and motivated. This will give you the strength to reach your goals. You are the main ingredient of how to create your future, your dreams, and your lifestyle. Remember to start where you are and use what you have.
